The EARTH without ART is just “EH”

I love Krabi, its less touristy than Phuket, but still touristy enough for us to find great food, great massage, and great things for the kids to do. This is a good base to explore the surrounding areas, climb the hills, take a boat ride out to explore the scenic islands scattered along the coastline.
We have a beautiful view of a cliff face from our hotel balcony at the Ibis Styles Krabi Ao Nang. The rooms here a bit small but sufficiently comfortable.

The kids love the pool here and having a good time swinging at the playground!
Just outside the hotel is the Masjid Aonang Al-Munuawarah, a grand traditional mosque with towers, dramatic arched windows & golden onion domes. It is beautifully lighted up in the night:

One of the evenings, I had an enjoyable date with my daughter, walking out of our hotel to Ao Nang Beach, experiencing the night-life and doing some window shopping.

There are some really interesting shops that line the beachfront. Plenty of eating places, pubs, and cafes you can hang out at. That night, I noticed this shop, an artist studio and gallery:

The words on the steps really stood out at me, speaking of how it is important to believe and to have passion in what we do. Life is more than just a rat race, but we need to find a purpose and a meaning. THE EARTH WITHOUT ART IS JUST “EH” …. nicely put! So interesting that we’ve been here many times before but I’ve never ever noticed this shop.
Back home in Singapore, because of work, I don’t get many opportunities to spend quality time with my kids. So it is really great to be able to make it up to them on these road trips.
I would like to make a special mention of Bryde Restaurant , which we visited for the first time. It is a little bit out of the way from the main Ao Nang stretch, but it sure was worth the effort! Great food and great hospitality, with plenty of options for the adults as well as for the kids. When the kids are happy, the adults also can relax and enjoy their food!

All in all, it was great to spend a couple of days chilling out here, even though we really didn’t do much because of the rain. Krabi also brings back many happy memories for us, as two years ago we enjoyed a trip here with my sister-in-law’s family.
