Reason to be Grateful

Your family is lucky to have you. I’m sure you’re just as lucky.

Blessed Christmas from the Lion family!

Firstly, here’s wishing everyone a Blessed Christmas!

Christmas is a time of giving, as well as a time of receiving. You can’t have one without the other. If none of us is willing to give, none of us will receive. Conversely, if we do not learn to receive graciously, we are actually depriving others of the gift of giving.

Yes, giving is actually a gift, not just to the person receiving, but also to the one who gives.

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Acts 20:35

As much as our little kids love to pose with Santa for pictures during Christmas, Jesus is actually the reason for the season. The words that he spoke, he lived out. With every breath, he lived to be a blessing to others, even to those who spoke and performed evil against him. With the giving of his life for us, through his cruel death on that cross, he paid the price for our wrongdoings, and paved the way for our reconciliation with the Almighty God.

Sorry Santa, you are not the real star of Christmas…

Someone just said to me (a mobile game friend, no less), “Your family is lucky to have you. (I’m) sure you’re just as lucky.”

What truth there is in this simple statement! All of us are truly blessed beyond what we often know and realise. We might or might not have much in terms of material possessions, but in our family and our loved ones, we actually have more wealth than we could ever deserve or even understand.

The joy that these little ones bring into our lives is immeasurable, even as imperfect and flawed all of us are. We so often get on each other’s nerves, but we wouldn’t trade any of us for anyone else in the whole world.

It is for this reason that I give my life, out of love for my family, working hard day and night for them, caring for them, guiding them, and if the day should come, I would be ready to die for them. All for love…

Just like how Jesus died for me.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends…
